Representability of binary relations through fuzzy numbers
Weanalyse the representability of different classes of binary relations on a set bymeans of suitable fuzzy numbers. In particular, we show that symmetric triangular fuzzy numbers can be considered as the best codomain to represent interval orders. We also pay attention to the representability of other classes of acyclic binary relations. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
متن کاملUndecidable Problems on Representability as Binary Relations
We establish the undecidability of representability and of finite representability as algebras of binary relations in a wide range of signatures. In particular, representability and finite representability are undecidable for Boolean monoids and lattice ordered monoids, while representability is undecidable for Jónsson’s relation algebra. We also establish a number of undecidability results for...
متن کاملRepresentability of Certain Function Spaces
LetCp(X) be the space of all continuous real-valued functions on a space X , with the topology of pointwise convergence. In this paper we show thatCp(X) is not domain representable unless X is discrete for a class of spaces that includes all pseudo-radial spaces and all generalized ordered spaces. This is a first step toward our conjecture that if X is completely regular, then Cp(X) is domain r...
متن کاملDomain-Representability of Certain Complete Spaces
In this paper we show that three major classes of topological spaces are domain-representable, i.e., homeomorphic to the space of maximal elements of some domain (=continuous dcpo) with the relative Scott topology. The three classes are: T3 subcompact spaces, strongly α-favorable spaces with a Gδ-diagonal or with a base of countable order, and complete quasi-developable T3-spaces. It follows th...
متن کاملContinuous Linear Representability of Binary Relations* WILHELM NEUEFEIND Washington University in Saint Louis
A very general result on continuous linear representability of binary relations on topological vector spaces is presented. Applications of this result include individual decision making under uncertainty, i.e. expected utility theory and collective decision making, in particular, utilitaristic social welfare functions.
